Syed Saleem  is a young and dynamic telugu writer with five novels, 140 short stories and more than 100 poems to his credit. His fiction is translated into several languages. His work is characterized by his humanitarianism and soothing poetic expression. He is a recipient of prestigious awards like Saahitya Akademy Award for the novel Vendi Megham in 2005, Raashtriya Vikas Shiromani Award from Delhi Telugu Akademy in 2005, Bhasha Puraskaram from Govt of Andhra Pradesh in 2003, Madabhushi Rangachari Award for roopayi Chettu in 2003, Vasireddy Sitadevi Sahitya Puraskaram for Novel writing in 2007, Chaso Literary Award in 2008 for story writing.

Translations  :    Twenty stories were  translated  into Kannada,   Sixteen in  Hindi,  Four in Marathi Twenty selected stories translated into English were compiled and published   as “Ocean and other Stories” by Prism Publications, Bangalore.

Novel “Vendi Megham” was translated into Hindi, Marathi, Oriya, Malayalam  and shortly into English language.

Another novel “Kaluthunna Poolathota’’ was translated into Hindi and English.
                       
Novels             :    1.  Jeevanmrutulu (2001)

"Jeevanmruthulu" novel depicts how the corporate hospitas are exploiting gullible patients, conducting unnecessary operations, referring to diagnostic centres from which kick backs were received and discusses the issue of hospital services and consumer Act.

   2.  Vendimegham (2003)

"Vendimegham'' Novel is first of its kind in Telugu Literature depicting  Muslim way of life, their beliefs, culture, insecurity and alienation. It conveys the message of religious tolerence and National Integrity.



3.      Kanchana Mrugam 2006
'' This novel deals with ill effects of visual media on the present day youth''



      4.   Kalutuhunna Poolathota 2006

"Kaluthunna Poolathota'' is also unique as it is the first novel in telugu Literature on HIV and AIDS which depicts the importance of positive thinking in facing the calamity.
                                                       
      5.   Padaga Needa 2009
     " This novel deals about Corporatisation of Education and diminishing values playing havoc in the lives of future generation.

10. One of the Stories "Aaro Alludu'' was found place in the Second part of "World Best Stories'' published by Bangalore University
